A little alien that’s been downloaded from the internet over seven million times has now crash landed on consoles. Behemoth's Alien Hominid is a kick back to old school gameplay that packs a fresh coat of cel-shaded paint and enough gameplay to make the alien worth staying.

Video games don't need to have that important of a premise when there's a crazy alien that needs to be captured. Alien Hominid crash lands on earth and needs to nab the parts of his spaceship back to fly home. On his tail are FBI agents that all are wearing suits and packing heat. Nearby in each level is a character called Fat Kid that hands power ups to the alien. Don't bother shooting the fat kid cause he's pretty fast in dodging bullets.

Each level plays like an old-school 2D shooter. One alien or two co-op aliens shoot, slice, and dice through countless FBI agents while nabbing power ups like fire shot, laser pulse, and spread shot from Fat Kid. Alien Homid is a pretty versatile little bugger. It can shoot, jump, bomb, and dig underground with the face buttons, and roll with the triggers. Additional moves like jumping on an enemy's head then slicing them or digging underground then pulling an enemy under to sync the kill are easy.

Extra gameplay includes riding in a vehicle with a friend to shoot bad guys, and at one point, piloting a UFO. The bosses are over-the-top and include a robot that fires a big laser from his head, or a giant wasp-like machine that destroys every vehicle with a metal stinger. Bosses stick to patterns just like classic enemies and players will eventually figure out their weak points.

All the action is very fast and you'll be killing more FBI agents than a standard action flick. A drawback to the action is that the colors of bullets and other movement on the screen blend together, causing players to not know what hit them. The graphics engine moves at 30 frames per second using cel-shaded characters. The design of each character, from Alien Hominid to FBI agents to Fat Kid is hilarious. Alien can slice agents in half, vaporize them with a gun, and slash their eyes, while agents can beat up the alien until his eyes become Xs.
